Have questions? We’re here to help. Common questions are answered here. If you’re not finding the information you are looking for, please call us at (215) 230-9085.
Is there an age requirement for climbing?
No. We allow participants to climb at any age. However, younger climbers may require direct adult supervision at all times. We do offer both sit and full-body harnesses for young climbers.
Can I drop my kids off at the gym?
If they are enrolled in a program such as a class, camp, or Kids Night Out, then you may not be required to stay at the facility. If they are coming in for open climbing, they must be 12 years or older to remain in the facility independently.
Is there a weight limit?
No, the weight limit that our anchors and equipment are rated to far exceeds the weight range of a climber. Climbers must be able to fit into the harness properly.
Do I need a reservation to come climb?
If you are coming for a day pass or one of our staff-assisted walk-in packages, then we only require a reservation if your group is 6 people or more. Registering will also be required if you are interested in belay instruction or attending a class.
What if I am bringing people to climb but I am not climbing?
We have a common area where you can sit and watch your climbers. You are not required to climb or purchase facility admission.
Do you have air conditioning?
Yes, the gym is air-conditioned.
What should I wear to come climbing?
Comfortable clothes that allow you to move around easily (i.e. athletic attire or pants with some stretch to them) and closed-toe athletic shoes. We suggest shorts of knee length if you are wearing a harness.
Who has to sign a waiver?
Any person who wants to climb, belay or take a class must sign a Release Agreement. If the participant is under 18, then their parent or court-appointed legal guardian must sign the waiver on their behalf.
Who may sign a waiver for a minor child?
Only the parents or court-appointed legal guardians of a minor child may sign the Release Agreement on their behalf. Host families for exchange students, aunts/uncles, grandfathers/grandmothers, neighbors, etc., are not permitted to sign for a minor child for which they are not the parent or court-appointed guardian even if they have the written permission of the parent or court-appointed legal guardian.
What is the difference between roped climbing and bouldering?
Bouldering is short, non-roped climbing. Depending on your age and height, you can climb to a limited height in our facility.
Roped climbing allows you to climb as high as you want using ropes, harnesses, and other safety equipment. In order to rope climb, you need to either know how to belay or have someone to belay for you.
What is the minimum age to belay?
To begin belay testing, a climber must be 14 years or older. 14 to 15 years old requires a minimum of 2 belay tests for full certification. 16 years and older may attain a full certification in one test if fully competent.
