HISTORY

The Doylestown Rock Gym & Adventure Center is housed in one of the original airport hangers for the Doylestown Airport (then called Airon Field). The building was an active airport hanger until the early 1960s,  when the new airport hangers were constructed. Looking at the front of the building you can still see the enormous, sliding steel doors that would allow planes to enter and exit the hanger.

Over the years the building was used for various industrial business. In 1995, local resident and climber David Pastorok and his wife Nancy had a vision to build an indoor rock climbing facility. Construction of the original walls, including the barrel and cave, began in August of that year. Filled with new holds, colorfully painted walls and a rubber chip floor, the grand opening event was held November 5, 1995. Since opening, many more walls have been added. In 2005, the Doylestown Rock Gym acquired the rear portion of the building which was developed into a party and program area.

MISSION

The mission of the Doylestown Rock Gym is to provide quality indoor, outdoor and adventure climbing experiences where seasoned climbers as well as newcomers to the sport can practice, train, and learn to climb safely.
