Rock Gym - Outdoor Climbing

Bucks County offers some of Pennsylvania’s most incredible outdoor climbing locations. The Doylestown Rock Gym & Adventure Center is just minutes away from these local crags which offer bouldering, top rope climbing, sport and trad experiences, long rappels and ice climbing.

HAYCOCK MOUNTAIN

Located on State Game Land #157 in Nockamixon, Haycock Mountian offers hundreds of boulder problems. Problems range from V0 to V11 with many projects still waiting to be sent. The primarily diabase rock with subtle features makes even the easiest holds challenging. While the best bouldering season is October through March, that also coincides  with hunting season. Since Haycock is located on State Game Land, all users must abide by gaming requirements .

RALPH STOVER STATE PARK – HIGH ROCKS VISTA

High Rocks is located in Ralph Stover State Park near Point Pleasant, Pennsylvania. The actual park is split by the Tohickon Creek with the climbing area on one side and the picnic, playground and general use area on the other. These two areas are only connected by a foot path.  The High Rocks Vista side offers hundreds of routes. While the majority is top rope and traditional climbing there is also some sport climbing as well as bouldering.

THE NARROWS

The Narrows, located in Kintnersville, PA is home to maybe the best ice climbing in Pennsylvania. This area is filled with 400 foot high Brunswick Shale and has reliable routes. There is convenient parking which offers practically no approach. If it happens to snow a lot make sure to bring a shovel to get into the parking lot. Over the winter, this summer choss pile turns into a pretty great place considering it’s in PA, but still be careful, theirs still plenty of loose rock.
