Is there an age requirement for climbing?
No. We allow participants to climb at any age. However, younger climbers may require direct adult supervision at all times. We do offer both sit and full body harnesses for young climbers.
Can I drop my kids off at the gym?
If they are enrolled in a program such as a class, camp or Kids Night Out then you may not be required to stay at the facility. However, if they are coming in for open climbing then they must be 12 years or older to remain in the facility on their own.
Do I need a reservation to come climb?
If you are coming for a day pass or one of our staff assisted walk-in packages then we only require a reservation if your group is 6 people or more. If you are interested in belay instruction or attending a class then registration will be required as well.
What should I wear to come climbing?
Comfortable clothes that allow you to move around easily (i.e. athletic attire or pants with some stretch to them) and closed toe athletic shoes. We suggest shorts of knee length if you are wearing a harness.
Who has to sign a waiver?
Any person who wants to climb, belay or take a class must sign a Release Agreement. If the participant is under 18 then their parent or court-appointed legal guardian must sign the waiver on their behalf.
What is the difference between roped climbing and bouldering?
Bouldering is short non-roped climbing. In our facility you will be permitted to climb to a limited height depending on your age and height.
Roped climbing is where you can climb as high as you want with the use of ropes, harnesses and other safety equipment. In order to rope climb you need to either know how to belay or have someone to belay for you.
What is the minimum age to belay?
To begin belay testing a climber must be 14 years or older.
14 to 15 years old requires a minimum of 2 belay tests for a full certification.
16 years and older may attain a full certification in one test if fully competent.
